Court heard earlier that Cynthia Dougherty, 49, of Beeton, and her passenger, Mar Dalsass, 44, of Palgrave, never stood a chance in the Oct. 6, 2007 seven-car pileup on Hwy. 50. A regional coroner said their hearts exploded on impact in the devastating crash.
3 u/ \. C, W: o6 {/ ACourt was told that Machado's BMW and an Audi driven by his brother, Steven Machado, 25, were travelling as much as 40 km/h faster than the posted speed of 80 km/h when the Audi clipped the rear of Dougherty's car, sending it across the southbound lanes and directly into the path of a northbound pickup.
: \+ I6 z" `9 L3 Z. `- sThe women, who had spent most of the day shopping in Bolton, were killed instantly.
5 D& z3 Y2 g4 q2 USeconds before, the Audi had gone between two southbound dump trucks before passing on the gravel shoulder.
